This Week at UMSL is an email digest where you can find information from around campus in one spot. The digest is meant to be your guide to the upcoming week, contain important events and announcements and help connect you with campus. All Faculty, Staff and Students are automatically enrolled in the correct lists to receive the digest.
Submission Process
Digest content can be submitted for consideration via the email digest submission form. Images are recommended, as content without an image will be placed lower in the digest. Submitted images that contain text will be excluded and be considered the same as content submitted without an image.
Before submission, please prepare a content draft. Have these answers prepared:
- Contact information for content
- Contact information for questions about content after the Digest is sent out
- Content to be included (Headline, description, informational website, photo, ALT text)
- Date(s) to include content
Information should be submitted by noon on Wednesday, for inclusion in the digests the following week.
Faculty and staff digests are sent on Thursday mornings. The student digest will go out on Monday mornings. Information should not be submitted for inclusion more than one month (four weeks) in advance.
Digest Policy
The faculty and staff digests primarily include university-related news, announcements and events that pertain to a large segment of the audience groups. Likewise, the student digest primarily includes university-related news, announcements and events that pertain to a large segment of the student audience. Submissions from “umbrella” or campuswide organizations that affect a broad campus audience are encouraged and receive preference. Service and charitable activities that are sponsored or endorsed by a university department or organization may also be considered for inclusion.
The digest is not to be used for personal profit, commercial advertising or announcements that are political or religious in nature. Where possible, the digest will reference existing documents on the university’s website, such as news releases, the Calendar of Events or events on Triton Connect.
Content Prioritization
Content priority within the digest is based upon the potential need and/or impact of the content on the specific audience for each digest. Content impacting the full audience (all faculty, all staff, all students) will take top priority and will be at the beginning of the digest.
The Events list within each digest will be in order by date, with the events occurring closest to the time the digest is sent out at the top of the list descending, approximately 10 days out.
