Marius Boboc, Ed.D., is the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, where he leads with a vision rooted in innovation and community transformation. Since assuming the deanship in July 2025, he has focused on positioning the college as a premier "anchor institution" dedicated to promoting social mobility and economic development throughout the St. Louis region.
Dean Boboc’s career began in his native Romania, where a challenging first year as a substitute teacher sparked a deep interest in the complexities of classroom management and the art of instruction. This formative period eventually led him to the United States to explore specialized fields such as educational technology and teacher leadership. He holds an M.A. in Teacher Leadership from Roosevelt University and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Northern Iowa.
Prior to joining UMSL, Dean Boboc spent 23 years as a faculty member and administrator at Cleveland State University. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as Vice Provost for Academic Planning, Director of Assessment, and Chair of the Department of Teacher Education. During his tenure at CSU, he notably co-directed a $3.4 million federal grant designed to enhance urban teacher preparation and led state-funded programs to recruit and retain a diverse educator workforce.
At UMSL, Dean Boboc is committed to fostering a "hub of innovation" by strengthening strategic partnerships and developing inclusive, interdisciplinary programming. He remains dedicated to sustaining the college’s rigorous teacher preparation standards while actively engaging alumni and community stakeholders to meet the evolving needs of urban education. Fluent in English, Romanian, and French, he brings a global perspective and a commitment to reflective professionalism to the UMSL community.
