The RWC offers a wide variety of fee based programs.  The classes that are offered as fee based programs are progressive and provide personal enrichment, training, and skill building.  Each participant can enjoy a smaller class setting and more individual attention from the instructor.  Each instructor is certified within their discipline and has years of experience. 

Take your marital arts to the next level with Kickboxing world champion, Daniel Isaac. This hour long class will challenge your fitness and increase your awareness for Muay Thai.

With Tai Chi, you find yourself moving your body with the grace and confidence of the ancient masters who learned the secret of balancing yin and yang – strength with beauty, power with peace, and endurance with flow. Strengthen your body through natural healing while improving circulation, flexibility, balance, and coordination. In this class there is no routine or choreography to memorize or “get right.” You will simply follow the instructor and start feeling the energy right away.

Low-impact class that is great for aging adults or post-surgery patients.

Want a workout program designed for you, but don’t have time to meet with a personal trainer every week? The Healthy Weight Management program will allow you to work out around your schedule with a workout program that was designed to meet your goals. 

This course will introduce the fundamentals of healthy living. Whether you’re looking to start your journey or continue to advance your health, our trainers can help

- Personalized workout program 
- Two fitness assessments 
- Weekly emails with tips and information about losing weight properly and increasing muscle mass.

Want to lift more weights but feel uncomfortable or unsure of what to do in the weight room? This course is for you.  A CertifiedPersonal Trainer will teach you how to use various pieces of equipment in the fitness center to increase strength and reach your fitness goals.  This course will allow participants to learn effective fitness goal setting while teaching them how to create and begin their own resistance training program. This class will meet on the fitness floor.

Challenge yourself to complete the Iron Triton. Participants will  have 5 weeks to complete the distance of a full Ironman - swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. The challenge will begin on February 12 and end on March 16. Do you have what it takes to compete? 

Upon registration members will be sent a link where they will be able to track progress.

If you’re interested in becoming a Personal Trainer, then the Personal Trainer Development Course is for you. This course will include lectures discussing basic anatomy and physiology and provide you with hands on experience necessary for training clients.

Feed your body, mind and spirit in this 45 minute lunch time class in studio 4 at the Recreation and Wellness Center.  The focus of this yoga class is to calm the mind, stretch and strengthen the body while bringing balance and relaxation to your life. For UMSL Faculty and Staff Only

Registration opens for Spring Session 1 on January 8 and for Spring Session 2 on February 19. Registration is required for fee based programs and the classes are open to students, members, and nonmembers.  Enrollment for each class closes 72 hours before the classes scheduled first session. You can register online or with Member Services in the Recreation and Wellness Center. If you do not have an online account, please click here for instructions on setting up your account. 

Refunds will be given up to two weeks after the start of the fee based program.  The refund will be a prorated amount and will only be fully refunded if the class is canceled. Some exceptions for full refunds are job loss, death, sudden illness, or moving 50 miles or more from RWC (documentation required).
