Graduate Certificate in
Long-Term Care Administration
The Graduate Certificate in Long Term Care Administration is designed for individuals who either work in or wish to consider entering the field of Long Term Care Administration. Long term care (home-based, community-based, and institutionally-based) is the fastest growing segment of the health care industry; a core of professional personnel aspiring to careers in Long Term Care Administration with the knowledge and skills for addressing complex issues in Gerontology is quickly becoming a critical necessity.
This program can be applied toward meeting Nursing Home Administration licensure requirements. (Missouri contact hour requirements vary with education and long-term care experience. Please check with the Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administration, Jefferson City, MO (573) 751-3511 for a copy of licensure eligibility requirements.)
Requirements of admission to the graduate certificate program are the same as those required for admission to the Graduate School: an undergraduate degree, a GPA of 2.75 or better, and three letters of recommendation.
The Graduate Certificate in Long Term Care Administration requires the completion of 18 credit hours and can be taken alone or in conjunction with pursuit of the Master of Science in Gerontology degree, the Master of Science in Social Work degree, or a graduate degree in another field. All 18 of these credit hours will apply towards the MS in Gerontology for students who elect to continue their graduate studies in Gerontology at UM-St. Louis.
