M-258: St. Louis Business Journal Photograph Collection
HISTORY: Acquired by the Mercantile Library
in 2001. The St. Louis Business Journal began publishing a weekly newspaper
in January 1980, with the intent to specifically serve the information
needs of the St. Louis Business Community
SCOPE: This collection comprises of the photographs
obtained by the newspaper for use in publication. The collection has been
divided into five separate series:
Series 1: People
This series comprises the bulk of collection M-258 as is primarily
images of individuals or groups of individuals organized alphabetically
by name.
Series 2: People-Supplementary
Comprised of a few images that arrived after the initial organization
of individual photos was completed
Series 3: General Subject
A relatively small series that was organized into very general
subjects. Use of the printed finding aid is recommended for locating images
by general subject.
Series 4: Locations
Contains images of various locals primarily in the St. Louis
Metropolitan areas. Also contains images of various business buildings.
Series 5: Organizations/Corporations
Primarily images of groups of individuals pertaining to various
corporations or non profit entities. Generally speaking the individuals
are not specifically named.
HOLDINGS: Approximately 10,000 separate entries and 30,000 photos
housed in 31 boxes approximately 45 linear feet.
ACCESS: Some of the material in Special Collection M-122 may
be photocopied, digitally scanned or photographed, subject to condition
and size.
