Fellowship in the Study of the American West
and American Transportation History: Summer, Fall, Winter 2007

California RouteTHE ST. LOUIS MERCANTILE LIBRARY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-ST. LOUIS invites applications for graduate and post-doctoral study in American history, particularly in the study of the American West -its arts, culture, and history - and railroad and river transportation history. Fellowships in American regional bibliographical studies, book arts and Midwestern culture and life are also available. Awards vary, depending on length of study and need, to begin in the summer of 2007 after June 1, from $1500 to $4500.

Additional assistance is available for visiting scholars during the academic year. Fellowship candidates must send a letter of application, curriculum vitae and a brief project proposal, citing collections to be consulted. A letter of recommendation is requested which describes the significance of the proposed project and the applicant's qualifications to pursue the proposed study necessary to complete and publish the topic.
