Apply as a Graduate Student
The general application deadlines to apply are as follows: July 1 for the fall semester, December 1 for the spring semester, and May 1 for the summer semester. Some degree programs have specific deadline dates and may only admit once each calendar year, so it is important to review the deadlines of your specific program. Other deadline dates and provisions may apply for international students. Visit the Graduate School to learn more about admission requirements and the application process.
Graduate applicants must submit an electronic application that requires about 15-20 minutes to complete. Once completed, program faculty conduct detailed reviews of the application packets and recommend whether to admit each applicant. You can return to the application site and check on your application status at any time.
You will be asked to create a unique user ID and password. By creating a secure user ID, you will have the opportunity to save your application at any point and return later to complete it. Or, you can complete the entire application at once. Please write down your user ID and password for reference later.
Paying your application fee (Graduate: $50): You will have the opportunity to pay the application fee online on our secure server with a MasterCard, Visa, Discover card, or your checking or savings account (echeck). If you are not prepared to pay the fee now, you can return later that same day to log in with your user ID and password to pay the application fee.
After you complete your application and pay your application fee, you will receive an email confirmation that provides additional details such as contact information and a confirmation number which you can refer to if you ever need to contact us with questions about your application. Please be patient as we process your application materials.
Important: The application will ask if you are interested in earning a degree in one of the following formats: Nights/Evenings, Online, Weekends. Be sure to select the appropriate format(s) to indicate your interest in UMSL|NOW programs.
Returning students that have previously attended UMSL: Your undergraduate and/or graduate records are accessible by Admissions and you do not need to send an UMSL transcript or resend previously submitted final transcripts.
