Welcome to UMSL's Museums, Heritage, and Public History graduate program! For the past two decades, our program has trained heritage and cultural professionals who go on to satisfying careers in the St. Louis region, the midwest, and across the United States. Drawing on the disciplines of History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Digital Humanities, and Art History, our students received a well-rounded education while also gaining substantial applied experience through Graduate Research Assistantships and internships. Core faculty members and community partners sustain this innovative program, providing emerging museum and cultural professionals with the theories, skills, and experience needed to launch successful careers. Faculty in the program lead students through project-based learning grounded in public history methods and with a commitment to social justice-inflected cultural work. Upon completion of the program, students are prepared for immediate entry into museum and heritage careers in a variety of positions.
