The UMSL Geospatial Collaborative invites faculty and staff members to participate in an Advanced GIS hands-on training workshop. This workshop is designed for faculty who have completed the GIS Essentials Workshop for Faculty in the past two years, the Principles of GIS Workshop, or have prior experience working with ArcGIS Pro software.

In-Person: UMSL Geospatial Collaborative, Benton Hall, 4th Floor, GIS Lab 401
Virtual: Live-streamed via an online platform
This workshop will be hybrid, allowing participants to attend either in person at Benton Hall or virtually via a live-streaming session. Faculty members attending virtually should have a Windows operating system computer with ArcGIS Pro installed to fully engage in the hands-on exercises. IT support is available to assist with software installation prior to the workshop.
- Gain proficiency in advanced spatial analysis techniques
- Explore geostatistical analysis methods.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS Pro.
- Revision of GIS Concepts & ArcGIS Pro (30 mins)
- Quick refresher on core GIS concepts.
- Overview of ArcGIS Pro tools & interface.
- Advanced Spatial Analysis Techniques (30 mins)
- Buffering, overlay analysis, and spatial statistics.
- Weighted overlay analysis for decision-making.
- Hands-on exercise using real-world datasets.
- Spatial Statistics & Regression Analysis (60 mins)
- Understanding spatial patterns & relationships
- Applying regression analysis in GIS
- Geostatistical tools in ArcGIS Pro
- A Windows computer with ArcGIS Pro installed.
- Stable internet connection.
- IT support is available for software installation assistance.
Faculty members interested in participating should register in advance to receive workshop materials and ensure proper software setup.
