Sam is an Academic Advisor at the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Education. He works to ensure that students have equitable access to the opportunities and support available to them. His door is open to talk about academics, experiences, aspirations, interests, and all the highs and lows of navigating college and life.
Originally from Chicagoland, Sam served in the US Army Reserve after high school, attended community college, then transferred to Purdue University and studied Social Studies Education & Global Studies. While an undergrad he worked at a pizza place, was involved in campus clubs and community organizations, played in local bands, and part of Greek Life. Thanks to grants on grants on grants, he was able to study abroad in Russia, the Netherlands, and Slovakia. He can attest that college is not a linear experience!
Before higher ed advising, Sam taught in Palestine as a Fulbright ETA and in Memphis, Tennessee through Teach For America. He enjoys playing music, D&D and MtG, hiking and birding, and just sitting - there are five camping chairs in the trunk of his car at all times, just in case.
