Evan Smith is an artist from Saint Louis, Missouri, who uses various media and technologies to create works that explore personal experiences. In recent works, Smith creates architectural spaces to investigate accessibility, utilizes sculptural objects to connect with childhood experiences, and delves into the uncanny nature of memory. A key component of Smith's art practice is collaborating with his partner, Stacey, combining art and science within their work. Since 2017, their collaboration has integrated their different backgrounds in art and science, beginning with an exploration of themes like childhood, relationships with sacred spaces, or the uncanny aspects of memory. They then distill these concepts into works that, though rooted in personal experience, invite viewers to form their own connections. Rather than conveying a specific message, their intention is to create a space where viewers' experiences feel validated, whatever form they may take. Evan earned a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Webster University.
