Jodi Kolpakov is a St. Louis-based visual communicator, educator, and passionate foodie who combines design and illustration to tell compelling visual stories. She earned a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from Webster University and, after working in the design field for several years, pursued an M.F.A. in Illustration + Visual Culture at Washington University in St. Louis. As an Assistant Professor of Design & 3D Animation at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, Jodi teaches courses in web design, animation, graphic design, 3D modeling, and senior capstones, with a primary focus on Games and Sequential Art.
Jodi's personal creative work is inspired by rural Midwest culture and nostalgia, incorporating bold colors, layered textures, and dark humor to explore social, political, and economic themes. Her current research examines the concept of comfort in different environments with projects integrating AR, VR, and 3D modeling to create educational content. An active exhibitor, Jodi exhibits her work in St. Louis and beyond, earning recognition from AIGA St. Louis, 3x3 Magazine, ICON, and Communication Arts.
In addition to her academic and creative work, Jodi runs a freelance studio, JK! Create Art + Design, specializing in illustration, branding, and packaging for small businesses—particularly those in the food and beverage industry. She regularly participates in art fairs and tabling events, while also selling her work through her online shop.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Jodi enjoys playing music, exploring antique malls, and baking sweet treats. Follow her on Instagram for zine trades and updates on her latest projects.
