Admission Requirements for
Transfer Students
Students transferring to UM-St. Louis with fewer than 24 semester hours of college-level work need to follow the procedures for entering freshmen. Plus send official transcripts of any college level work completed.
Students transferring with 24 or more hours of college level work with a minimum 2.0 overall grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) across all college-level courses at previous institutions can apply for admission as a TRANSFER student.

Transfers With An Associate Degree
Students with an associate degree applicable to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution are accepted in junior standing. Students who have fulfilled the general education requirements outlined by the Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Education and certified by the sending institution will meet the lower division general education requirements.
Transfers Without An Associate Degree
Transfer applicants who do not have an associate degree will have their transcripts evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Students who have fulfilled the general education requirements outlines by the Missouri Coordinating Board of Higher Education and certified by the sending institution will meet the lower division general education requirements.
Midwest Student Exchange
The
Midwest Student Exchange Program is an initiative designed by the
Midwestern Higher Education Commission to increase interstate
educational opportunities for students in its member states. The
program enables residents of Kansas , Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri,
and Nebraska to enroll in the institutions and specified programs
located outside their home state at reduced tuition levels.

Transferring Your Coursework from Another Institution
The faculty and staff of the University of Missouri-St. Louis are very pleased that you are considering transferring here and we wish to make the process as easy as possible. We will work with you and assist in transferring your course work so that the maximum number of courses will transfer toward your baccalaureate degree at UM-St. Louis.
You can search the Course Equivalency Database for a list of colleges and universities with whom UM-St. Louis has an agreement for allowing transfer coursework taken at that school to count toward your degree at UMSL.
Transfer Guides are designed using a two-plus-two partnership model. In the ideal case, it will take a full-time student four years to obtain his/her Bachelor's Degree; the first two years at your community college and the last two at UM-St. Louis.
