Marketing Your RSO

An important part of being a successful organization is having proper promotion of both the organization and events or programs sponsored by the group.

TRITON CONNECT

Our student engagement software designed to encourage collaboration between organizations, campus departments, and UMSL students. Triton Connect increases and improves our institution’s online visibility and access to new, prospective, and current students! Make sure your organization’s portal is up to date and that your members are actively using the portal to promote engagement in the organization. Organizations with a profile picture and updated description are much more likely to catch the eye of potential new members. Utilize the “Events'' function on Triton Connect to advertise your upcoming events and find out what else is happening on campus so you can plan around other large events.

CAMPUS CALENDAR

Events created and approved on Triton Connect that are marked as public will automatically upload onto the UMSL Campus Calendar.

DIGITAL SIGNAGE

There are digital displays throughout the Millennium Student Center, EdCollabitat, and Oak Hall. To have your event advertised on these displays, fill out the Digital Signage Request form.

CHALKING

Chalking on sidewalks throughout campus is an effective and unconventional way to advertise for upcoming events. It must be washable chalk that comes off in the rain. The bright, fun colors of chalk can catch people’s attention. Please review the chalking policies below:

  • Chalking on campus is limited to RSOs and UMSL departments
  • Chalking is permitted to publicize campus events and resources, to make announcements, and to share messages
  • Chalking must take place on concrete sidewalks, not on buildings, roadways, steps, or other University property. Chalking is prohibited on ALL vertical surfaces, including but limited to: buildings, walls, benches, picnic tables, poles, bus stops etc.
  • Horizontal concrete surfaces covered by an overhand are prohibited. Chalk MUST be placed where it will be washed away by rain or snow. Chalking may be placed for a maximum of 10 days.
  • Chalking cannot contain profanities, obscenities, hate speech, or derogatory statements about individuals or groups.
  • Chalking must contain the name of the sponsoring entity, which MUST be legible.
  • Chalking cannot interfere with another message. Overwriting, defacing, erasing, or altering the chalking of another entity is prohibited.
  • The content of the chalking must adhere to the law and other University policies, including but not limited to the following: Student Standard of Conduct, specifically the Standard of Conduct for Student Organizations (CRR 200.010) and Use of Facilities and Equipment (CRR 110.010).
  • The University reserves the right to clean and remove any chalking which does not comply with these policies or that may contribute to a hostile environment. Individuals found in violation of the above policy(ies) will be subject to disciplinary action under the previously mentioned University policies and procedures.
