2027 Chancellor’s Retiree of the Year Awards Nomination Form for Faculty

The Chancellor’s Retiree of the Year Awards focus on the accomplishments of former full-time UMSL employees after their retirement. These accomplishments may involve service to the University, civic and welfare services, career and professional activities, or other noteworthy accomplishments. Accomplishments prior to retirement are not considered in the selection process.  Each award includes a plaque and a check. Self-nominations are acceptable.

Award Criteria

  1. A nominee must be a former full-time UMSL faculty member and be retired from UMSL for at least five years.
  2. If selected, the recipient is expected to attend the annual Chancellor’s State of the University Address.
  1. The Faculty Award recognizes service to the campus, service to retirees, service to the community, and continued engagement with the nominee’s field. Please provide specific examples of any such engagement. Examples could include letters of support from the campus, the community, or external professional colleagues. Examples could also include articles, citations, or any media that enhances the nominee’s contributions post-retirement.

Nomination Process: To nominate (or re-nominate) a retiree, please complete the form below and

  1. Prepare a letter with the following information:
  2. Nominee’s extraordinary accomplishments since retiring.
  3. Personal and background information about the nominee.
  4. Summary—most important reason(s) why you believe the candidate should receive the Faculty Award.
  5. Attach two (2) letters of support from others who know the nominee.
  6. Please keep the nomination package to 10 pages or less, excluding this cover Nomination Form. It is possible to nominate oneself.

  2. Letter of accomplishments, including: Service to UMSL, volunteer civic and welfare service, professional and noteworthy achievements, and background and personal information.
  3. At least two (2) letters of support from others who know the nominee.
  4. Please keep the nomination package to ten (10) pages excluding this nomination form and the Nominator’s cover letter.
