The U.S. government regulates the distribution of strategically important products, services and information to foreign nationals and foreign countries for reasons of national security and foreign policy under rules collectively called "Export Controls." This includes university research (funded by federal agencies and/or other sources) that may have a detrimental effect on U.S. security. Foreign nationals are restricted from all Department of Defense grants. To help ensure Export Controls compliance at UMSL, the ORA uses eCustoms software.
