If you are an UMSL student and have a documented disability, Disability Access Services can help you obtain the accommodations you need in order to be successful in your courses.
First, you have to become registered with our office. You can do this at any time during the semester, but we recommend doing it before classes start.
New Students
If you are a new student to Disability Access Services, please follow the step-by-step instructions below.
-
Complete the Accommodation Request Form on the student portal under Survey/Questionnaires/Register for Disability Accommodations.
-
Contact your medical or mental health provider to request a letter verifying your disability. The letter can be faxed to our office at 314-516-6561. Or, you can log onto the UMSL student health portal and upload a scanned copy of the letter. We can assist you in signing a release and faxing it to your medical professional.
-
Meet with a DAS staff member to discuss program policies and your accommodations. This ensures that you understand the steps necessary to arrange the accommodations offered by DAS with your instructors.
Returning Students
If you are already registered with Disability Access Services and have received services or accommodations, you need not register again. Simply visit the student portal and enter your SSO ID and password. Select "Letters" on the left menu once you've logged in to gain access to your accommodation letter. However, if it has been several years since attending UMSL or your needs have changed, you may want to contact our office to ensure you're receiving the most appropriate accommodations.
