John D. Held, II currently serves as the Executive Director of Gift Planning & Campaign Strategy for the Missouri University of Science and Technology. John has over 20 years of experience in fundraising and non-profit organization leadership.
John is a native of St. Louis, Missouri earning his undergraduate degree from Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Missouri and holds an MBA from Missouri University of Science & Technology.
John joined the team at Missouri S&T in 2013 as their Executive Director of Development and in 2015 became the Director of Planned Giving – a technical specialist in the field of philanthropy. In 2019, this position was elevated to an Executive Director and in 2021 was redefined to encompass leadership in Campaign Strategy development. Through his tenure at Missouri S&T, John has worked closely with philanthropists and their advisors securing new investments for the University.
When at home with his wife, Alice, a father of seven, he enjoys his time with their two children remaining in the home and his four grandchildren. He has a passion for adoption and foster parenting having adopted five children. Outside of work John enjoys golf, working with stained glass and camping.
