Our History
In April, 1997 Multicultural Relations was founded by Chancellor Blanche M. Touhill and charged with increasing campus diversity efforts by working with minority students and providing multicultural programming. In an effort to improve efficiency of services Multicultural Relations brought together three separate programs that provided support services to a predominate African - American student pool: African-American Scholars Retention Program, African American Student Relations Office, and the Student Support Services. Additionally, Multicultural Relations expanded services to include a broader range of students of color by adding Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American Indian/Alaskan Native students to their service purview.
