MLK Day of Service
A Day On, Not a Day Off
MLK Day of Service is a national initiative to make the recognition of Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday a “day on, not a day off." Volunteers learn that small changes can have
a huge impact within their own neighborhood. Past projects undertaken on MLK
Day of Service have included painting, landscaping and remodeling houses for low-income
families and homeowners, tutoring elementary school students, and upgrading
school classrooms and resource centers.
MLK Day of Service is a great opportunity to bring a diverse group of people together for a common cause. Volunteers will arrive at the Millennium Student Center for check-in, breakfast, and a brief program before being disbursed to their sites via carpool (see Day of Schedule). The service projects are approximately three hours Interested participants must register by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 4. Walk-ups are welcome, but will only be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis, pending available space. Volunteers must be at least 13 years of age. Minors must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Registration is available at https://orgsync.com/59704/forms/61440.
