The University of Missouri–St. Louis offers an undergraduate certificate for students who are considering entering the field of nonprofit arts or cultural organization management, as well as current professional staff, board members, and other leaders of such organizations.The program applies to students interested in all types of nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, including performing and visual arts, cultural, historical, and educational institutions. Prerequisites may apply.

The undergraduate Certificate in Nonprofit Arts Management is a collaborative program of the College of Fine Arts & Communication and the Nonprofit Management & Leadership Program at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. The faculties in the program represent a distinctive blend of academic expertise, as well as practical nonprofit and philanthropic leadership.

Individuals pursuing the certificate must take one elective course and the following core courses:

• American Philanthropy and Nonprofit Resource Development

• Leadership and Management in Nonprofit Organizations

• Management Issues in Nonprofit Organizations

• Gallery Management or Practicum in Performing Arts Management

• Internship with one of the cultural partners of the University of Missouri–St. Louis, such as the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Saint Louis Art Museum, The Saint Louis Black Repertory Company, or one of our on-campus arts organizations such as the Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, or Gallery 210. In cases where the student has equivalent professional field experience in the nonprofit arts sector, the internship may be waived.
