Boulevard Literary Magazine

The UMSL MFA program is thrilled to announce its new collaboration with the internationally renowned literary magazine Boulevard. Boulevard is frequently listed among the top twenty of the five hundred literary journals in the country.  It has published work by generations of important writers and critics, including John Ashbery, Ann Beattie, Billy Collins, Mark Doty, Jennifer Egan, Donald Hall, Alice Hoffman, David Mamet, Joyce Carol Oates, Carl Phillips, Francine Prose, Gerald Stern, and Mark Strand.

Under the terms of the new partnership, UMSL MFA and MA students enrolled in English 5190: Literary Journal Editing will read submissions for Boulevard print issues and Natural Bridge Online, a separate section of the Boulevard website. This partnership allows Boulevard to draw upon the effort, talent, and perspective of UMSL graduate students. At the same time, it allows UMSL students to work as editorial assistants for one of the premier literary journals in the country.

Boulevard will remain an independent arts organization run by Editor Jessica Rogen and Managing Editor Dusty Freund.
