Test Directory


Students have the responsibility to provide the University with official documentation of any disability that may affect the outcome of testing. The Testing Center proctors exams for students with extended testing time, reduced-distraction environment, and other accommodations. Please note that the Office of Disability Access Services is solely responsible for determining if a student is eligible to receive any special testing accommodations.

Registration: Students in online courses that use SmarterProctoring will use SmarterProctoring in Canvas to schedule exams at the Testing Center. For exams that do not utilize SmarterProctoring, please visit our registration site.

ACT On-Campus (formerly ACT Residual) is a program available to students who are unable to take the ACT test on a regularly scheduled national date and: 1) are in the application process at UMSL, 2) have been admitted to UMSL, or 3) are enrolled at UMSL. Please note that scores obtained from On-Campus testing cannot be transferred by transcript or any other means to any other institution. Testing cannot be repeated with 60 days. 

The University of Missouri System campuses will share ACT On-Campus test scores for Fall 2021 applicants! Current and prospective students may take the ACT On-Campus at UMSL and scores will be sent to: 1) University of Missouri-Columbia, 2) University of Missouri-Kansas City, 3) Missouri University of Science & Technology, and 4) University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Testing Fee: $100

UMSL requires an unproctored ALEKS Math Placement Assessment to determine readiness for various courses. The assessment must be proctored for direct placement into MATH 1800 Analytic Geometry & Calculus I. For more information, see the Math Placement webpage.

Career-based, professional certification and licensure testing for a variety of organizations. 

Registration:

  1. Create your Certiport account at www.certiport.com
  2. Purchase the necessary exam voucher(s)
  3. Assign the voucher(s) to your Certiport account

Students who have gained knowledge outside of the regular classroom have the option to take a course-specific CLEP exam to earn college credit. Consultation with an academic advisor is strongly advised before scheduling a CLEP exam.

Testing Fee: $30 to Testing Center; the current College Board testing fee is $89. 

CLEP Resources for Students:

Proctoring services are extended to local students enrolled in online and distance coursework with external colleges and universities.

The CPCE is a comprehensive examination used by UMSL's Counseling department. For more information, please see the CCE--CPCE website or contact Dr. Emily Oliveira

The departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, and Physics use the Major Field Test as a degree capstone requirement. The test is taken during the student's final semester:

  • fall graduates - November
  • spring graduates - April
  • summer graduates - July

With faculty consent, students may take exams missed due to illness, University-sanctioned events, or other unforeseen circumstances.

The Miller Analogies Test (MAT) is a graduate admissions test. Some graduate programs require either a GRE or MAT score.

Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments are required for candidates seeking entry into a Missouri educator preparation program or practicing and prospective paraprofessionals.

Testing Fee: None due to Testing Center; all fees paid during registration. ($59 for all four MoGEA subtests; $25 for a single subtest; and $40 for Paraprofessional)

Students in online or blended courses are welcome to schedule tests in the Testing Center as an alternative to remote proctoring.
