Pelvic Exams

Nervous about your first pelvic examination?

Let's alleviate some of that nervousness by going over what will happen.

Components of a Pelvic Exam

  • Discussion with health care provider:
    • Health history
    • Gynecologic history
    • Health concerns
  • Weight/ Height
  • Blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature
  • Neck examination and examination of heart and lungs
  • Breast exam and teaching of breast self exam
  • PAP/pelvic exam
  • Discussion with health care provider:
    • Birth control options
    • Treatment of other health concerns
