Funding your MPPA graduate studies


The Robert J. Baer Endowed Fellowship in Public Policy Administration
Students who apply for the Robert J. Baer Endowed Fellowship in Public Policy Administration must have at least a 3.3 GPA, and had to have completed at least 18 credit hours in the MPPA program. Applicants submit a 250-word essay, and two letters of recommendation from MPPA faculty.

Friends of Terry Jones scholarship fund
PPA and Political Science are honoring Prof. Terry Jones' 50 years of service to UMSL and the community by establishing an endowed scholarship in his name. Once the scholarship is established, students will be able to apply for, and be awarded funds from the scholarship. Would you like to contribute to the fund? Donate to the fund here.

Kathleen Mansfield City Management Scholarship
The Missouri City/County Managers Association (MCMA) has established an annual scholarship program for two deserving Missouri graduate students pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, who might be motivated to choose local government as a career. The application deadline is May 31. Learn more, and apply.

Student organizations


The Pi Alpha Alpha national honor society recognizes outstanding scholarship and accomplishment in the field of public affairs and administration. Universities and colleges that are members of the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) are eligible to establish a Pi Alpha Alpha chapter. Pi Alpha Alpha is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, a national organization dedicated to encouraging fraternal and specialized honor societies in establishing and maintaining high standards, scholarship and achievement of their members.

The purpose of Pi Alpha Alpha is to encourage and recognize outstanding scholarship and accomplishment in public affairs and administration, and to foster integrity, professionalism and effective performance in the conduct of government and related public service activities.

MPPA students who have completed 50 percent of the required coursework (a minimum of 20 semester hours) and have attained a GPA of at least 3.7 are eligible for induction into the UMSL Chapter of Pi Alpha Alpha. MPPA and BSPA alumni who meet the GPA requirements are eligible for membership as well.

A one-time membership fee of $50 is required by NASPAA.
