Dr. Franzel's clinical research interests involve the study of sensory and motor aspects of strabismus. In particular, he is interested in the development and progression of esotropia.
Currently, he is studying familial esotropia, determining characteristics shared by these families and suggesting potential risk factors for the incidence of binocular dysfunctions in non-strabismic family members. He is also interested in developing more successful therapy regimens for adults with strabismus.
