Transportation
Public transportation:
UMSL has two Metrolink stops one at the northern part of campus (“UMSL North”) and one at the southern part of campus (“UMSL South”). The line goes west to the airport and east through downtown St. Louis and into Illinois. The line runs every 20 minutes. More info on the Metrolink can be found here.
UMSL also has nearby MetroBus stops that provide transportation across the St. Louis area. More info can be found here. You can use the “Transit” app to help navigate both the Metrolink and MetroBus.
Campus Map and Parking
All activities will take place in the science complex on North Campus, specifically the Science Learning Building, Benton Hall, and Research Building. An interactive map can be found here. To view a PDF of the North Campus click here.
For navigation, you will want to search for the “Science Learning Building” (75 Stadler Cr, St. Louis, MO 63121).
Parking: Park in lot Q, outside the Science Learning Building. If necessary, there is also a free, campus parking garage (“West Drive Garage South” (WDGS)) nearby as well. You can use this map to help guide you.
Nearby activities
If you are interested in going into town, St. Louis is made up of many distinct neighborhoods. One of the closest to UMSL is Delmar Loop, where you can find a plethora of restaurants, including Blueberry Hill, a St. Louis Landmark, and other activities. It is located about 10-15 minutes from UMSL campus depending on traffic.
The Central West End (CWE) and The Grove neighborhoods also have many restaurants and activities. Up-Down is a fun arcade in CWE, and the Gramophone in The Grove has excellent sandwiches and live music. The Hill is known for its Italian restaurants. Soulard is where to go if you are looking for bars and nightlife. Located closer to the downtown area, the City Foundry has many different food, entertainment, and shopping options.
For beer enthusiasts, St. Louis is also well known for its many breweries (e.g. Bluewood, Blue Jay, Brick River Cider, Heavy Riff, Modern Brewery, Urban Chestnut).
Forest Park is one of the largest urban parks in the U.S. and contains the St. Louis Zoo.
Other free activities in St. Louis include the Gateway Arch downtown, the City Museum (open until 10pm on Saturday!), the art museum, Creve Coeur Lake and many others.
