Technology Transfer is a function of the Office of Research Administration (ORA) at UMSL. The tech transfer staff works with faculty, staff and industry to facilitate the transfer of discoveries and inventions from the University to the private sector where they can be further developed for public use and benefit.

The ORA tech transfer staff handles invention disclosures, patent applications, technology licensing, MTAs, NDAs and related activities for UMSL.

Should you publish or patent? Try to do both! Seeking a patent for a discovery or development does not prevent scientific publication, and in most cases does not delay publishing.
