UMSL's IT Enterprises Hosts Warfactory 2008 LAN Party

On just about any weekend, you can find groups of gamers getting together across the country to compete mostly on multi-player computer games at LAN (local area network) parties. Generally, such gatherings are BYOC, or "bring your own computer."
Over the last weekend in October 2008, IT Enterprises hosted the Warfactory 2008 LAN Party. Warfactory, a St. Louis-based LAN and online gaming event company, brought 50+ PC gamers (including many semi-pro and pro Counter-Strke teams along with several professional Quake gamers) to ITe for this tournament sponsored by Ranken Technical College, Dust-Off, Thermaltake, ET Game Hosting and others.

“We are pleased with the overall quality of the participants, some coming from as far as Texas to compete," said Dave Derington, president, Warfactory LLC. "Many asked the encouraging question, 'When’s the next one?'”
Hosting such events, whether for a gaming company, regional life sciences network or startup company board of directors, introduces a wide range of people to IT Enterprises. As noted in an article by St. Louis' Legit Reviews, an online provider of technology news and reviews, "Once inside the lobby, we were greeted by the Warfactory staff and given a spot to set up at the BYOC area, but we had to roam around the building some as we never knew this was in our backyard." (Nathan Kirsch, Legit Reviews, 10/27/2008)
