Amended "Lobbying Disclosure Act"

In response to lobbying scandals involving congressional members, Congress has amended the Lobbying Disclosure Act (LDA) effective Jan. 1, 2008.

To comply with the amended LDA, the University must report quarterly all expenses incurred for travel to Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress and various federal agencies (agencies to be reported).

To report such expenses incurred in 2008 prior to April 1, email a copy of your travel voucher to Nasser Arshadi by April 4, 2008. Also provide the following information:

  • Name of Faculty/Staff Member Who Made the Contact
  • Date of Contact
  • Name of Congressional Member, Staff Person or Federal Agency Contacted
  • Purpose of Contact
  • Total Expense Related to Meeting(s) -- if the trip had another purpose, such as a conference, the expenses should be pro-rated

To report expenses incurred after March 31, 2008, complete the new travel voucher making sure to complete the questions related to contact with a congressional member, their staff or a federal agency. You do NOT need to provide information to the ORA for expenses incurred after March 31, 2008 -- campus accounting will forward the necessary information to us.
