- UMSL Business School Alum Wins Prestigious National Award Chris Leon, BSA, BSBA (Finance) 2007, has been selected to receive a 2008 Elijah Watt Sells award, which is presented each year to 10 candidates earning the highest scores on the Uniform Certified Public Accountants examination. Approximately 85,000 candidates took the exam in 2008. The award program was established in 1923 by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) in honor of Elijah Watt Sells, a founding partner in Haskins & Sells, a predecessor to Deloitte & Touche. In 1896, Sells became one of the first to qualify as a CPA in New York State; he was also active in the creation of the AICPA.
