CNS Hosts Successful Open House to Launch New Focus on
Interdisciplinary Research, Garners National and International Coverage

(Nov. 1, 2007) The Center for Nanoscience at UM-St. Louis hosted more than 250 people at its open house on Oct. 30, including state legislators, congressional staff and many industry executives. More than 80% of attendees were from off campus, with a majority representing industry. Businesses represented at the event included Apath, Boeing, Covidien/Mallinckrodt, CrossLink, MEMC, the Mo-Sci Corporation, Monsanto, Pfizer, PolyAd Services, Rockwood Pigments, Sigma-Alrich, Solae, Solutia, TA, W.R. Grace and many others.
Also in attendance were Patrician Jones, wife of the late Tom Jones who was instrumental in getting the center started as the Center for Molecular Electronics in the late 1990s, and their daugher, Jennifer.
CNS staff and scientists gave tours of the facility and its labs, explaining the current and planned cutting edge collaborative research within the center.
