BUDGETS

When preparing a grant proposal, submit your budget to Ginny Schodroski (516-5284) in the Office of Research Administration (ORA) at least TWO WEEKS BEFORE the proposal submission deadline.

Note:

Large or complex budgets should be finalized at least one week before submission.

NIH Electronic Submissions

Please submit your completed NIH grant application to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) at least ONE WEEK prior to the final deadline to ensure proper electronic submission to the NIH.

SIGNATURE PAGE

The PeopleSoft Signature Routing Sheet (PSRS) must be delivered to the ORA BEFORE the grant will be submitted. This applies to any grant being submitted to any agency.

The PSRS must include ALL signatures (all PIs, Co-PIs, Dept. Chairs, Deans of each person, dept, and/or school who has time/resources committed through direct costs, cost sharing or match). If you are going to be away from the University at the time of submission, you must arrange to sign the PSRS signature page before leaving.

SOLICITED vs. UNSOLICITED

GRANTS

SOLICITED GRANT PROPOSALS respond to advertisements called program solicitations, requests for proposals (RFP), or requests for applications (RFA), which are sent out by funding sources and usually posted on their web sites/listed in funding opportunity databases.

 

UNSOLICITED GRANT PROPOSALS respond to the mission or objectives of the funding source, not to a specific program or advertisement.

FEATURED ANNOUNCEMENT: NEH Summer Stipend

UM-St. Louis can nominate two individuals for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) summer stipend support. 

 

Nomination Deadline: September 4, 2007

So that the University can submit the strongest nominations, please prepare a one-page overview of your proposal and submit it to the Office of Research Administration (ORA) by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007. Email to stutte@umsl.edu or drop off at 341 Woods Hall. Campus nominees will be notified by Friday, Sept. 7.

The goal of this newsletter is to inform the campus community of grants received, to highlight the accomplishments of our faculty, graduate students and staff, and to share with you a calendar of important events and deadlines.
