WHAT IS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP)?

IP is any new and useful process, machine, composition of matter, life form, article of manufacture, software, trademark, copyrighted work, or tangible research property. 

Examples:

New or improved devices, circuits, chemical compounds, drugs, genetically engineered biological organisms, antibodies, clones, cell lines, data sets, software, web-based tools, musical processes, or unique and novel uses of existing inventions.

FUNDING OPPORTUNITY:

Four Centers of Excellence will be designated by the MO Life Science Research Board in four geographic areas, including St. Louis, Kansas City, Springfield, and statewide. The Missouri statewide center would encompass the institutions, agricultural research centers dedicated to plant-made pharmaceuticals, and campuses within the University of Missouri System provided that UMKC and UMSL participate in the Centers for Excellence in their respective geographical regions.

GRANT PROPOSAL BUDGETS

WHEN PREPARING A GRANT PROPOSAL, YOU MUST SUBMIT YOUR BUDGET TO GINNY SCHODROSKI AT LEAST 2 WEEKS BEFORE THE PROPOSAL SUBMISSION DEADLINE. ANY EXCEPTION MUST BE APPROVED BY VICE PROVOST NASSER ARSHADI.

The Office of Research Administration supports and advocates research and technology transfer by faculty, graduate students and staff. The ORA provides services in conjunction with external and internal sources of funding for research, along with services related to commercializing discoveries through technology transfer. The goal of this newsletter is to inform the campus community of grants received and funding opportunities, to highlight the accomplishments of our faculty, graduate students and staff, and to share with you news and resources related to research, creativity and commercialization.
