The UMSL Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is required by federal regulations to review all projects (research, teaching, or other) involving the use of live vertebrate animals. This includes new or renewed research proposals as well as the use of live vertebrate animals in teaching demonstrations and/or student laboratory studies. This review is necessary for compliance with provisions of the Animal Welfare Act, requirements of federal granting agencies, and the maintenance of accreditation by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) International. UMSL is fully accredited by AAALAC International.
Application for IACUC Review:
Applications for review can be submitted at any time via IRBNet, but allow at least two (2) weeks for initial committee action. New application forms and annual/final/modification report forms can be found in the IRBNet IACUC library.
