Jason currently serves as the University Tutoring Center Manager. He received his B.S. in Elementary Education in 2009 from Central Methodist University, and he earned his M.Ed. in Administration from William Woods University in 2012. He is currently working on earning his Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning Processes with plans to graduate in May 2024. Before joining the UMSL family in June 2019, Jason worked in public education as an English teacher for nine years and an Afterschool Program Director for two years. Jason takes pride in being able to provide exceptional tutorial supports to the students of UMSL.
Andrea has been serves as a Tutoring Coordinator for the office. She received her M.Ed. in Higher Education in 2020 from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Before coming to UMSL, she taught 7th grade English Language Arts in rural Missouri after receiving her B.S. in Middle School Education with an emphasis in Language Arts from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2016. Andrea is committed to connecting students with excellent tutorial services and providing additional resources to support student achievement. She also manages the social media content, organizes Student Organizational Study Sessions, and coordinates UTC outreach efforts across the UMSL community.
Janeece currently works as a Tutoring Coordinator. She earned her M.A. in English from the University of Missouri–St. Louis in 2019, and in addition to her role with the University Tutoring Center, she teaches business writing and first year composition courses at UMSL. Before joining the team, Janeece assisted the writing program administrator at UMSL and worked as a museum interpreter for the state of Illinois. As a former tutor, Janeece enjoys working closely with UMSL’s tutors to encourage professional development and growth.
Office Support Assistant III
Karen currently works as Office Support Assistant III for both the University Tutoring Center and Multicultural Student Services department. She earned a BA in English from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1988. Before joining the Multicultural Student Services department in 2012, she worked as an administrative assistant for sixteen years with the Missouri Institute of Mental Health. Karen is enthusiastic about connecting the students to all of the educational resources available to help them achieve their educational potential.
Emily Beahm (she/her) joined the University Tutoring Center in Fall 2021 as a biology and chemistry graduate assistant. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, MO in 2021. She is starting her Master’s of Science in Biology in the Fall at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Before joining our office, she worked as a Naturalist at the Smithville Lake Nature Center in Kansas City, MO. She enjoys working with students and helping teach people to be passionate about the sciences and protecting the environment.
Hailey Coleman joined the University Tutoring Cetner in Fall 2021 after earning a graduate degree in sociology from the University of Memphis. She is passionate about creating an environment where students feel comfortable connected. Hailey is pursuing a second graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
Paula joined the University Tutoring Center in Fall 2021 after earning a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO. She intermittently worked as an IT/IS Administrator and developed an interest in adult learning. Later, she earned an M.Ed. in Adult and Higher Education from UMSL. Currently, she is working toward her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration, and she will graduate this year. She enjoys working with students and helping to transform their lives.
Sarah joined the University Tutoring Center in the Fall 2020 semester, during the same time she began her Master's program in Behavioral Neuroscience. She also attended UMSL for her Bachelor's in Psychology. She serves as a part-time Teaching Assistant for the Psychology department, and thoroughly enjoys her roles between UTC, the Psychology department, and being a student. She is passionate about UMSL's campus and is devoted to creating an accessible learning environment for students.
