Colleges and universities want LGBTQ+ students, faculty and staff to be out and proud as part of the diversity, equity and inclusion of the campus community.  The Campus Pride Index (CPI) provides campuses the opportunity to come out as LGBTQ+ friendly and take responsibility for continually improving their LGBTQ+ campus climate.

The CPI features LGBTQ+ student opportunities by highlighting the positive work within higher education across the country. Prospective students and families may choose the best LGBTQ+ campuses based on area of study, cost, location, type of campus and LGBTQ+ inclusive policy, programs and practice for their college search. CPI measures schools based on a 5-star scale and after each academic year reevaluates a school's scoring. Campuses receive their scores based on resources, policies, campus climate, and much more that are specifically aimed to uplift, empower, and be inclusive of LGBTQ+ students, staff and faculty.

UMSL currently holds a 4 out of 5 star rating and has current plans and strategies to move to 4.5 stars over the next 1-2 academic years. Review UMSL’s CPI score at Campus Pride Index.
