July 29, 2025 – Report # 25-0191 – 6:00 a.m. Occurred on July 29, 2025, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:34 a.m. FIRE ALARM-OPTOMETRY PATIENT CARE CENTER. The UMSL Police and maintenance responded along with the fire department for a fire alarm sounding and smoke in the building. The building was evacuated. The cause was related to a faulty air conditioning chiller unit and it was giving off steam. There was no fire and no injuries. Disposition: Inactive.
July 29, 2025 – Report # 25-0192 – 7:06 a.m. Occurred on July 29, 2025, between 7:06 a.m. and 7:22 a.m. INFORMATIONAL REPORT/SMELL OF NATURAL GAS-UNIVERSITY MEADOWS APARTMENTS. The UMSL Police were dispatched to the smell of natural gas. The police officer could only smell something burnt. The officer located several dryers in the laundry area that had a large amount of lint buildup on the filters, but no fire or damage. Disposition: Inactive.
July 29, 2025 – Report # 25-0193 -4:07 p.m. Occurred on July 29, 2025, between 4:00 p.m. and 4:07 p.m. CHECK THE WELFARE-UNIVERSITY MEADOWS APARTMENTS. The UMSL Police were called to check the welfare of a student who was in their room for a long time and had not been seen by their roommate. The UMSL Police made contact with the person and they were ok, but a little sad due to the semester being over, not renewing their lease and having to move out of the apartments. The parents of the student were going to help them move out soon. Disposition: Inactive.
