The Singing Actor’s Workshop (EN PER 1560)
The Singing Actor’s Workshop is devoted to exploring the practical performance skills needed to be a well-rounded musician. Students will learn the fundamentals of acting from quick improvisation to creating believable, three-dimensional characters in performance, the audition process, acting with partners, and how to use the musical score and libretto as a jumping-off point. Students will be assigned repertoire across genres of music such as art song, opera, musical theater, and vocal jazz to perform in front of a live audience near the end of the semester. An on-your-feet course, the Singing Actor’s Workshop is a fun and engaging experience dedicated to helping you perform with heightened confidence and authenticity. Anyone in the UMSL community may register for the course without audition.
The course is EN PER 1560, and I hope you'll register and join us for this tool-based course in performance skills this Fall.
