Before applying, we encourage all prospective students to attend a Preview Night or talk to an advisor to gain detailed information on the program and to meet with faculty and staff.

Candidates should complete the following to apply for the program:

  • Connect with one of our dedicated Teach in 12 advisors by filling out this form for eligibility, application instructions, and testing information.
  • After receiving instructions from an advisor, Apply to the UMSL Graduate School for admission as a teacher certification candidate by the date suggested for your area of certification. Note that official transcripts are required for every college or university you have attended. 
  • Once admitted to the Graduate School, acquire and submit all documents in the 7-Step Application process by the dates required for your program, including background check, TB test, academic audit, substitute certificate, professional resume and letter of reference.

All candidates seeking educator certification in Missouri are required to achieve a passing score on the appropriate Missouri Content Assessment (MOCA) before beginning the Teach in 12 program.
