Since 2010, Jenna Alexander has taught a variety of writing courses for the English Department and the Pierre-Laclede Honors College, including First-Year Composition, Junior-Level Writing, and Writing in the City.  She is currently working with faculty across disciplines to develop an innovative teaching method called Reacting to the Past (RTTP).  In RTTP, students learn about history, rhetoric, and culture through the use of elaborate role-playing games.  Jenna believes that connecting theory with practice, in both academic and public contexts, can help students reach their full potential.  

Jenna’s research interests range from literary theory to gender studies to ethics and social justice.  Previous conference presentations include “Gayatri Spivak as a Revisionary Rhetor,” “Teaching Through Ferguson,” and “The Extracurriculum Within Our Walls.”  She is currently collaborating with Dr. Suellynn Duffey on a project called “Beyond the Waves: Rhetorics of Intergenerational Feminisms” to explore the complexities of cross-generational feminist work through digital media.
