Black Culture Room
In 1972, the Black Culture Room (BCR) was established on the UM-St. Louis campus by Black students and concerned members of the campus administration. While later decades witnessed a variety of transformations, 2007 marked the year BCR was revitalized. BCR embodies the spirit of African American and African Diasporic culture. With a rich history of Black and African American culture and Civil Rights interwoven into the fabric of our campus community, the renewed Black Culture Rooms pays tribute to the achievements and victories of the past, present, and future. Selected readings and an archive are displayed in the room. BCR also features a wide array of programs that showcase cultural contributions of Africans throughout the diaspora.
