staff editor The Current recently participated in an interview with actor Scott Foley, who is appearing in the new film "Scream 3," and who appears on TV in the show "Felicity." Scott plays Roman Bridger, the director of the movie "Stab 3," based on the events in the first "Scream" movies. In this movie-within-a-movie story, the actors in "Stab 3" start getting killed and, well, the director is a tad upset. The Current spoke with Scott Foley by phone, and we were told at the beginning of the interview that the plot of the movie was a secret: Current: Did you get a copy of the whole script when you were shooting the movie? Foley: No, the whole thing was very secretive. We only got a page at a time, and it was marked in red DO NOT COPY. We only saw the pages that had to do with our part, never saw the whole script. Since Miramax decided to keep the plot a secret, they didn't let us see the finished film. It's frustrating, but I hope it drums up interest..I don't know how big my part was, or even how long the movie was. Current: What was your role in the movie? Foley: I play the director of "Stab 3," which is movie being made about the murders in the first two"Scream" movies. The director of "Stab 3" is having a hard time because his cast is being killed. Current: Are you a big fan of horror films? Foley: No, not really. I like some, but I prefer suspense. Current: What's your favorite scary movie? Foley: "The Serpent and the Rainbow." Current : Since the script was a secret, how did that affect your audition for the role? Foley: Usually for an audition, I get the script in advance, but in this case I had to do a cold reading. I just walked in and they gave me a scene to read. We were also allowed to do reading from "Scream 2," which I did get in advance. Current: Was it hard to come into a series with an established cast? Foley: No, everyone was very nice. Current: What was it like to work with director Wes Craven? Foley: He was very nice, and very relaxed. He's been doing this genre for a long time Current: You play a director in this film. Do you have any interest yourself in directing? Foley: Yes, I've watched many of the directors at work on "Felicity," and I think I'd like to try it. Current: What are your future plans? Foley: Well, "Felicity" is on hiatus, so I'm not sure what I'll be doing next. Current: What do you look for in a role? Foley: I look for characters I can relate to, rather than particular genres. I look for a good role and good story. |
