My wild and crazy spring break, mom
The idea came to me one day while I was driving through Webster Groves admiring how it was such a great community and listening to some smooth jazz. Many of the houses in Webster Groves had Easter decorations outside and signs in the yard that said "Happy Easter." There was even one house that had a big Easter bunny stuck into the ground and of course the bunny was holding a sign that read "Happy Easter." And that is when I made what I had been dreaming of official. I was going to make a statue of my mom to put in the front yard and she could be holding a sign to wish everyone a "Happy Easter." After all, Easter was on its way and my mother loved Easter and loved everyone else. I continued to drive around Webster Groves listening to my smooth jazz which, that day, was particularly smooth. As I drove I reminisced about Easter's past and my mother. I thought about the one year that my mother and I sat at the kitchen table and, while dying Easter eggs, made up our own Easter songs. We sang "Easter bunny, Easter bunny," but failed to come up with another verse. I laughed to myself "Ah, those were good times. The best." Now, time to get back on track. The statue, the statue of my mother, it would be great. I found everything I would need to make a replica of her right at home. Recycled paper, tape, string and paint was all I needed. Ah yes, I could picture it now. I spent a whole 48 hours without sleep constructing the monument. It was beautiful. On Easter day I placed the replica of my mother in our front yard. As we ate Easter dinner my mother and I stared out the window admiring my work of art. I enjoyed admiring the project that I had put my heart and sole into better than the food. After all, my mom had gone shopping for the ingredients of our Easter dinner at Schnucks, the evil empire of the food industry. |
