Dialogue for Performing

There currently exists on this campus an opportunity for an experiment in collaboration between all stakeholders concerned with the issue of the proposed Performing Arts Center. Those stakeholders are the administration, the faculty, business and civic organizations that would utilize such a facility, and, perhaps most importantly, the students of this university. Some students believe the Performing Arts Center does not have direct impact on their educational opportunities since it will not be completed while they are attending this university. The issues surrounding the proposed center, however, potentially impact the educational choices of many future students - sisters, brothers, friends, or even children of students presently attending this campus. A collaboration offers an opportunity for an open dialogue and sharing of views and ideas. I encourage all members of the university community to support such a process as a means of achieving a shared vision of enhancing the Arts programs without posing a threat to existing programs on this campus. I would also like to encourage participation in such a dialogue as a means of insuring that future students of this university will have, at a minimum, the same choices in educational opportunities from which we, the present students, benefit.
