Institutional Research at the University of Missouri-St. Louis provides data about the campus and analytical services to academic and administrative decision-makers and external constituents in a manner that is accurate, consistent, understandable and timely. The goal of the department is to support strategic planning, policy formulation and analysis of ongoing operations to further the teaching, research and service missions of the University.

Regular Business Hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Central Time, Monday through Friday, excluding University holidays.

Services

Institutional Research provides the following services to the campus community:

  • Extracts data from a variety of sources, e.g., the UM data warehouse, the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System (IPEDS) from the U.S. Education Department, and other databases.
  • Develops queries and reports using the UM data warehouse.
  • Trains faculty and staff to use data retrieval tools.
  • Provides advice to faculty and staff on appropriate tables and fields.
  • Archives federal and state compliance reports.
  • Works with the UM-System and other institutional research offices at other institutions.
