Radiation Safety

 

This section of Environmental Health & Safety is responsible for administering licenses, permits, and training for all radiation sources on campus. The use of radioactive materials is highly regulated by both Federal and State agencies.

EHS works closely with the Principal Investigators to develop policies and procedures to ensure that radioactive materials are handled and stored safely. All low level radioactive materials for research MUST come through the Radiation Safety Office first, before use on campus. All sources of X-rays on campus must also be reported to the Radiation Safety Office for listing with the MO Dept. of Health.

Radiation Training

The Radiation Safety Office has developed an online Radiation Worker Refresher Training. Radiation Workers must take refresher training annually. New users must call the Radiation Safety Office at x6362 to schedule Radiation Worker Training for new users.
