What interests me the most about the pursuing this degree is taking what I learn in the program and applying the knowledge to the Lewis & Clark Boat House  and Museum -- or on the flipside, using the Museum as a lab for UMSL studies. In 8 years, I see myself managing or volunteering in a museum or cultural center in a beautiful setting. I’m working full time at the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Museum, so I’m hoping to intern for myself! The thing about public history and museums that fills me with fire is that every individual arrives at the museum with a different set of expectations, background knowledge, biases and level of interest.  The museum is a living place and at our best, we create a conversation with each individual around our special focus and resources.

As a lifelong St. Louisan, I have to toss out a few favorites:  Salt+Smoke for food and cocktails, DDMau for amazing Vietnamese and Heavy Riff Brewing for beers and bar food. My favorite t.v. show is The Tour de France and This American Life on NPR. In my free time I like to go camping, cycling, flyfishing, and travel.
