In collaboration with Ira DeWitt, President and founder, Notifi Records, and Ronnie Notch, the Department of Music, and the Touhill Performing Arts Center, PCS/COFAC is proposing a non-credit Chancellor’s Certificate in Audio Recording, to be offered on the campus of the University of Missouri St. Louis and at the studios of Notifi Records. The certificate program is designed to prepare participants to develop technical skills related to the production of high quality sound recordings. Through a mix of lecture-based courses and hands-on studio training, participants will learn to use audio technology, including recording consoles, microphones, and the widely used audio software program Pro Tools. In addition, the program will feature an Introduction to Music Business course.
The classes are designed to move participants through a series of classes that will build upon each other. Participants will have to begin with Audio Engineering I and will have to follow the order as presented. The only class that can be taken any time (and will be offered multiple times) is the Intro to Music Business.
The number of estimated participants per class is 12. The registration fee per class is $375.
