Dr. Timothy A. Farmer, Director of General Education

Provost Cope has announced the appointment of Dr. Timothy A. Farmer, Associate Professor of Accounting, College of Business Administration, for a three year term as the Director of General Education, effective August 1, 2008.  This is a half-time faculty appointment reporting to the Provost.  Professor Farmer will chair the General Education Committee and oversee general education and assessment of general education for the campus.  He has a strong interest in general education from his many years as a faculty member whose students benefited from the background they received in general education courses.  Dr. Farmer served as chair of the Faculty Senate and University Assembly for two years, 2006-08, and previously served as a member of the Senate Curriculum and Instruction Committee, a member of the Graduate Council, and chair of the Curriculum and Instruction Committee of the Graduate Council.  He also served on the Accreditation Steering Committee.  With his extensive experience in curriculum and student learning, Dr. Farmer will be an excellent campus leader in the important area of general education.
